General Intercessions
24th Sunday in Ordinary Time
As our nation marks the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks,
Lord, attune our hearts to both the anguish of those who lost loved ones,
and the suffering caused in so many places by the wars that followed.
Show us how to welcome refugees now fleeing Afghanistan,
how to stand in solidarity with our Muslim neighbors,
and how to strive for a more perfect union—one that chooses love over fear.
Bless our Jewish brothers and sisters as they observe their high holy days.
We pray especially for the many interfaith families in our parish:
may their faithful practices strengthen the bonds of love between them.
We lift up our young parishioners who made their First Holy Communion this weekend:
Joel, Alanna, Taylor, Anna, Bella, Kennedy, and William.
Through the intercession of Saint Joseph,
may they always receive the Body of Christ with joy.
In this Season of Creation, Lord,
help us to demonstrate our faith by our works,
becoming better stewards of all you have entrusted to our care.
Welcome into your loving embrace all who have perished
by floods, fires, earthquakes, tornados, and other natural disasters.
Comfort those who struggle to rebuild, even as they grieve.
- Respectfully submitted,
Christine Eberle
