General Intercessions
August 15-16, 2020 – 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time
On this weekend in which the church celebrates the Feast of the Assumption, may our devotion to the Blessed Mother help us to say yes more faithfully to all God asks of us.
As our nation holds political conventions this week and next, may each party demonstrate their positions clearly and honestly, enabling voters to make well-informed choices for the common good.
As the uncertain school year approaches, may all who advocate for children’s well-being be blessed with the stubbornness of the Canaanite woman, whose bold faith inspired Jesus to heal her suffering daughter.
As our parish continues to hold listening sessions around race, may we each take the personal risks needed to make our conversations candid, truthful, and fruitful, so this may truly be a house of prayer for all peoples.
As our nation confronts the reality of systemic racism, may those who have lost their lives unjustly be gathered home to God, and may they live on in our striving for a more just future.
